Supplemental Activities

A fellowship is designed to enable the participant ample opportunities for reflection, introspection, new experiences, and growth. Toward these ends, the DFI reserves a majority of the Fellows’ time for engagement in these purposes. DFI Staff is available for ongoing consultations with Fellows about the use of this Supplemental Time. That said, no Supplemental Activity requires approval of the DFI Staff.

(Please note, however, that even in the midst of their Supplemental Time, Fellows must abide by the regulations of their Fellowship Contract. These include limitations on travel (See: Travel) and restrictions on Fellows’ eligibility to receive remuneration for work in Israel during the Fellowship period.)

There are few limitations on Fellows’ Supplemental Activities. Fellows are urged to be creative, to stretch beyond their pre-established limitations and to explore new fields.
